Why You Need Weather Stripping in Your Home

One of many helpful home maintenance tips to reduce the cost of cooling and heating bills is to make sure that you not only have weather stripping but that it’s in good shape if it’s already in place.

What is Weather Stripping?

If you look around your windows and doors, you may notice some rubber or metal around the edges. This is called weather stripping and is put in place in order to reduce drafts and keep water outside while still allowing you to open and close your windows and doors. These can also be put in other places that may have trouble with drafts. If you don’t see anything around the openings in your home or if the weather stripping seems worn out, adding or replacing it is a quick and easy fix in order to manage the temperature of your house better.
